There are generally two ways to get this connection to work. We’ll review each method, outlining our topology to achieve the connection. Let’s get to it.
Method 1: Not Bridging Your Xfinity Comcast Modem
Suppose you decide not to put your modem in bridge mode. In that case, we recommend this topology:

Here’s our detailed procedure on how we achieved this.
Install Your Xfinity Comcast Modem: Setting up your Xfinity modem is usually the first step. This step is necessary if your Comcast modem still needs to be set up. To do this,
Unpack your Xfinity modem and power cable.
Connect the coaxial cable from your wall to the back of your modem.
Plug in the power adapter and turn on the modem.
Wait for the modem to sync up with the network.
Set up your Eero Mesh System: Once your Comcast modem is all setup, the next step is to set up your Eero system. You can easily do this using the Eero App. Here’s how
Download the Eero app on your smartphone or tablet.
Open the app and create an account.
Follow the in-app instructions to set up your Eero mesh WiFi system.
Connect the primary Eero node to your Xfinity Comcast modem using an Ethernet cable.
Hardwire your devices to the primary Eero: You might prefer to have your TV, Gaming consoles, etc., hardwired to your primary Eero. To do this, you may make use of an unmanaged switch.
Connect your unmanaged switch to the ethernet port on your primary Eero using an ethernet cable.

Method 2: Using Your Comcast Modem In Bridge Mode
This path is our recommended path. When you put your modem in bridge mode, you hand over all the networking functions to your Eero mesh system.
The result of this will be a single network in your home.
Here’s the topology we implemented with this setup.

Modem/Xfinity (bridged, nothing else plugged in) -> Our gateway eero (not bridged) -> Switch -> All other hardwired devices.
Our detailed procedure will be the same as in Method 1 above, except you must put your modem in bridge mode.
How to put an Xfinity modem in bridge mode
Putting an Xfinity modem in bridge mode can be helpful if you want to use a third-party router to manage your home network.
Here are the steps to put an Xfinity modem in bridge mode.
Connect your computer to your Xfinity modem: Connect your computer to your Xfinity modem using an Ethernet cable.
To access your Xfinity modem’s settings, Open a web browser on your computer and enter “http://10.0.0.1” into the address bar. This address should take you to the login page.
Log in to your Xfinity modem’s settings: Enter your Xfinity modem’s username and password. If you haven’t changed these, the default username is “admin,” and the default password is “password.” These credentials log you into the modem’s admin page.
Find the bridge mode option: Look for an option to enable bridge mode in the Xfinity modem’s settings menu. Navigate to the “Gateway > At a Glance” section and click on the “Bridge Mode” option.
Enable bridge mode: Once you’ve found the option, select and enable it. This option turns off its routing capabilities. Save your changes.
Restart your modem: After enabling bridge mode, restart your Xfinity modem to ensure it recognizes your changes.
Once the modem is in bridge mode, it will no longer perform routing or NAT functions and will only act as a modem.

In bridge mode, your modem only has a single IP address to lease out.
So make sure to disconnect your computer from your modem when restarting.
If you do not disconnect the device, the device will lease out the lone IP to the computer, and you won’t be able to connect other devices to the modem until you reset it.

Is your Eero device only connecting when the bridge mode is off?
This problem can be frustrating, but we have some tips you can use to try to resolve the issue.
Resolve the IP address Problem.
In bridge mode, the router only gives out one IP address.
Once you’ve switched the router into bridge mode, disconnect the device you use to access it before it completes its reboot.
In this case, the router will lease its IP address to Eero.
Reset the cable modem.
Once in a while, the Xfinity app will show the cable modem online, but the Eero router doesn’t get an IP address from Comcast’s network. This problem could be at Comcast’s end.
To solve this, go to the Xfinity app and reset the cable modem. Resetting would clear out whatever the problem was, and then the router would lease its IP address again to the Eero router.
Also, if you swap out routers, you must “reset” the cable modem through the app. Otherwise, it will not lease a second IP address to the new router, even if you power cycle the cable modem.
If these tips don’t resolve the issue, you can contact Xfinity support to turn off the bridge mode so you can use the modem without bridging it.
